Description Carbon steel, AISI 1000 series steel, low carbon steel. Applications For quenching and tempering, parts for machine building and vehicles. Physical properties (avarage values) at ambient temperature Modulus of elasticity [103 x N/mm2]: 200 Density [g/cm3]: 7.85 Thermal conductivity [W/m.K]: 51.2 Specific heat capacity[J/g.K]: 0.486 Soft Annealing Heat to 650-700oC, cool slowly. Normalizing Temperature: 880-920oC. Hardening Harden from a temperature of 860-900oC followed by water quenching. Tempering Tempering temperature: 550-660oC. Forging Hot forming temperature: 1100-850oC. Material Notes Machinability and weldability are fair. Cold formability of these steels is good to excellent.
