    Description
Low alloyed cold working tool steel.

    Applications
It can be used as structural steel for manufacturing of balls, rollers and needles for bearings up to 10 mm of thickness. This steel grade can be used also as tool steel.

Physical properties (avarage values) at ambient temperature
    Modulus of elasticity [103 x N/mm2]: 210
    Density [g/cm3]: 7.84

    Soft Annealing
Heat to 730-760oC, cool slowly. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 207.

    Stress Relieving
Stress relieving to remove machining stresses should be carried out by heating to approx. 600-650oC, holding for 1-2 hours at heat, followed by air cooling. This operation is performed to reduce distortion during heat treatment.

    Hardening
Harden from a temperature of 780-810oC, 820-850oC followed by water or oil quenching. Hardness after quenching is about 60 HRC.

    Tempering
    Tempering temperature: 150-180 oC.

    Forging
    Hot forming temperature: 1100-850oC.

    Machinability
    No data.
